NHL Rumors: Red Wings To Trade Defenseman

The Detroit Red Wings are likely to shop Filip Hronek this offseason, according to Kevin Allen.

Hronek's name has come up in the rumor mill previously, but he has remained with Detroit. The 24-year-old is coming off of another solid season offensively, as he had five goals and 33 assists in 78 games. With numbers like these, it's clear that teams would love to add him to their blueline but especially on the power play.

With the Red Wings rebuilding, they could take advantage of Hronek's trade value being at its highest. He is signed at a $4.4 million cap hit until the end of the 2023-24 season, so they would likely be able to land a solid return for him.

Alas, it will be interesting to see if GM Steve Yzerman pulls the trigger on a Hronek deal.
