Capitals Sign Forward

The Washington Capitals have re-signed forward Brett Leason to a one-way, two-year contract extension worth $1.55 million. The new deal will pay Leason $750K this upcoming season and $800K in the 2023-24 season.

The twenty-three year old forward got his first taste of NHL action this past season, playing 36 games with Washington scoring three goals and three assists, for a total of six points.

In 114 games played for the Hershey Bears (Washington's AHL team), Leason posted 18 goals and 29 assists for 47 points.

The six-foot five, 218 pound forward was drafted by the Washington Capitals in the second round of the 2019 NHL Entry Draft, fifty-sixth overall.

The big forward has disappointed so far in his young NHL career, however the Capitals have nothing to lose with this deal, and the very least Leason could do is provide some depth for the 2018 Stanley Cup Champions.
