NHL Rumors: Canadiens Linked To Penguins Defenseman

According to Dan Kingerski, a source said that the Montreal Canadiens were interested in Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Pierre-Olivier Joseph before the trade deadline passed.

Joseph could be a player that we see the Penguins shop this offseason. The 2017 first-round pick has not been able to cement himself a spot on Pittsburgh's roster. In fact, he played just four games with the NHL squad, where he failed to get on the scoresheet. In 61 games with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, he scored 10 goals and recorded 33 points.

If the Penguins do not see Joseph as a long-term part of their blueline, the Canadiens could be an ideal landing spot for the 22-year-old. He is not only a Laval native, but the club is also in the middle of a major rebuild. Thus, he would have a great chance to play regular NHL minutes. Let's see if something comes of this interest this summer.
