NHL Rumors: Hurricanes Defenseman Wants To Stay Put

While speaking with reporters, Tony DeAngelo expressed that he would "love to stay" with the Carolina Hurricanes.

After causing issues in the New York Rangers' locker room, DeAngelo's 2020-21 season ended after just six games. Yet, even with the controversy that surrounded him, the Hurricanes gave him a one-year deal, and it worked out perfectly. In 64 games this season, the 26-year-old scored 10 goals and recorded 51 points. Naturally, the Hurricanes would love to keep that kind of production around.

It will be interesting to see what happens with DeAngelo from here. The Hurricanes do not have the most cap space in the world to work with and have several other pending UFAs. Perhaps DeAngelo would be open to a bit of a hometown discount, but time will tell on that front.
