NHL Rumors: Rangers Forward Garnering Trade Interest

According to Elliotte Friedman, teams will call the New York Rangers about Kaapo Kakko this offseason.

Kakko just completed the final year of his entry-level contract. Since entering the league in 2019-20, he has yet to emerge into the top-six forward that most expect him to become. In 43 regular-season games this season with the Blueshirts, he had seven goals and 11 assists. He also had five points in 19 playoff games.

Teams will also focus their attention on Kakko being scratched for Game 6 against the Lightning. That understandably has raised some eyebrows.

It will be intriguing to see what happens here from Kakko. It is certainly risky to give up on a second-overall so early on in their career, but that isn't going to stop teams from contacting the Rangers about him.
