Report: Barry Trotz Has Decided NOT To Coach At This Point In His Life

Shocking news today, as Barry Trotz has informed the Winnipeg Jets that will not be getting back behind the bench at this point in his life. TSN's Darren Dreger broke the news.

Dreger reports that Trotz informed the Winnipeg Jets of his decision today and that he intends on continuing to focus on family. The 59-year-old former New York Islanders coach said it was an extremely difficult decision to turn down the Jets' job, and thanked them for their consideration.

It doesn't really sound like a short-term thing, as Trotz says he isn't ruling out the possibility of returning to coaching "down the road."

Trotz is a two-time Jack Adams winner as coach of the year in the NHL, and has a Stanley Cup championship under his belt. He's second all-time in games-coached, behind only Scotty Bowman.
