Blue Jackets Sign Defenseman
The Blue Jackets have signed defenseman Nick Blankenburg to a two-year deal worth $825K.

The twenty-four year old played seven games for the Blue Jackets this past season, scoring one goal and two assists. He finished with a plus/minus rating of minus three.
In 133 games at the University of Michigan, Blakenburg scored 25 goals and 43 assists for 68 total points. He finished with a very good plus/minus rating of 50.
Not a bad payday for Blankenburg coming off a very short entry-level contract.
He'll function as a solid middle of the lineup defenseman this upcoming season.
