Capitals And Devils Swing Trade

It was well-known that the Devils were looking to add a goalie this offseason. Now, they have done just that, as they have acquired Vitek Vanecek and the 46th overall pick from the Capitals in exchange for the 37th overall pick and 70th overall pick.

There have been rumblings that Vanecek could be on the move. The Capitals want to switch up their goaltending, and this is the first move to make that happen. The 26-year-old appeared in 42 games this past season, where he had a 20-12-6 record and .908 SV%.

It will be intriguing to see how Vanecek performs with the Devils from here. If New Jersey doesn't make another move, they will be running a Vanecek/Mackenzie Blackwood tandem for the 2022-23 season. The Capitals, on the other hand, will certainly be bringing in another goalie before the summer is done. Let's keep a close eye on them from here.
