NHL Rumors: Capitals Hoping To Re-Sign 3 Players

According to Tarik El-Bashir of The Athletic, the Capitals are interested in re-signing Marcus Johansson, Johan Larsson, and Justin Schultz.

Johansson was acquired by the Capitals before the trade deadline passed. Following the trade, he recorded six points in 18 regular-season games. With that, he had a goal and an assist in six playoff contests. If signed to a cheap cap hit, he certainly could be worth keeping around. He can provide decent depth scoring and can play all three forward positions.

Larsson was another trade deadline acquisition by the Capitals. It was a very good season for the 29-year-old, as he recorded a career-high 21 points in only 43 games. He would be nice to keep in the bottom six if possible, but given the fact that he had a career year, he could elect to test his value on the market.

Schultz put together a decent year when it came to offense, as he had four goals and 19 assists in 74 games. The 32-year-old will likely get attention on the open market, but we will have to wait and see if Washington can get him to stay.
