NHL Rumors: Potential Trade Package from Canadiens for Pierre-Luc Dubois

This NHL offseason has been a wild one and it appears to be taking flight to new heights as the Winnipeg Jets were dealt some interesting news of late. Forward Pierre-Luc Dubois (PLD) who is currently a restricted free agent, wants to play for the Montreal Canadiens and now we wait to see if the two general managers can work something out. Just because Dubois wants to head to Montreal doesn't necessarily mean it will happen, but why would Jets management sign him to a one-year deal, just to have him walk for nothing next summer.

The Canadiens could pair Dubois with Nick Suzuki down the middle, which would be a nice 1-2 punch that could mesh together very nicely. PLD is still only 24 years old and has a bright future ahead of him as he put up some big numbers last season, recording 28 goals and 60 points in 81 games in Winnipeg.

If Montreal is able to pull off this trade, look for the trade package to include Christian Dvorak, who could slide in nicely for Winnipeg as their #2 center behind Mark Scheifele. While forward Jake Evans would look nice in a Jets jersey, expect to see Winnipeg shoot for the stars here as they'll likely ask for Kirby Dach to be included in the deal.

Is Dvorak and Dach for Dubois too much considering Montreal knows he'd sign next summer? If a deal goes down over the course of the next few weeks, expect to see one of those two Canadiens involved as Dubois has put the Jets in a very tough spot. Winnipeg will want a center in return as they'll be a giant hole down the middle of their lineup once Dubois departs.
