Rangers Forward Signs Extension
Julien Gauthier has signed a one-year, $800,000 contract extension with the Rangers.
Gauthier may have signed an extension with the Rangers, but his time with the team is very likely coming to a close. Arthur Staple recently reported that Gauthier requested a trade, so this extension is likely a way to help speed along this process. Keep in mind, the Blueshirts did the same thing last offseason with Brett Howden before they shipped him out to Vegas.
There could be a market for Gauthier out there, as he is a former first-round pick. In 96 career games between the Hurricanes and Rangers, he has five goals and 18 points.
