Carolina Hurricanes Sign Veteran Free-Agent Forward

The Carolina Hurricanes have signed veteran forward Paul Stastny to a one-year contract worth $1.5 million. TSN's Chris Johnston was first to report the news.

Stastny heads to Carolina after a very productive season with the Winnipeg Jets, posting 21 goals and 45 points in 71 games. The Hurricanes have added multiple pieces this offseason and continue to try and build a Stanley Cup champion.

With Max Pacioretty expected to miss six months, Stastny will help provide some much-needed offense for the Hurricanes and should get a left-wing spot in the team's top six. He's versatile to also play down the middle, a trait that likely appealed to the Hurricanes.
