Columbus Blue Jackets Forward to Miss 2022-23 Season

The Columbus Blue Jackets have announced that Alexandre Texier will miss the 2022-23 season due to the advice and recommendation of the NHL/NHLPA Substance Abuse and Behavioral Health Program.

Texier took a leave of absence in March this past season due to two deaths in his family and did not return following it.

With this development, Texier will not be paid this campaign, and his $1.525 million salary will not count against the Blue Jackets' salary cap. With that, he is permitted to sign overseas in Europe because of an agreement between him, the Blue Jackets, NHL, and NHLPA.

If Texier decides to return to the NHL in 2023-24, he will still be under contract for the Blue Jackets, as the final year of his deal will slide.

We here at NHL Trade Rumors would like to send our best wishes to Texier through this trying time.
