Golden Knights GM Opens Up About Goalie Situation

Vegas Golden Knights goaltender Robin Lehner is expected to miss the entire season. With their starting netminder down, you'd think the Golden Knights would be active on the trade market. Turns out that's not going to be the case at all.

General manager Kelly McCrimmon confirmed the team is content with Laurent Brissoit and Logan Thompson as their goalie tandem and will be riding this out to start the 2022-23 season.

Certainly a risky approach, considering the inexperience of both Brossoit and Thompson, who haven't been a starting netminder in the league. As far as career production goes, Brossoit has a 42-41-8 record with a .905 save % and a 2.84 GAA. Meanwhile Thompson has recorded a 10-5-3 record with a .914 save % and a 2.68 GAA.

With signing Phil Kessel and having Lehner and Shea Weber on LTIR, the Golden Knights do have some financial flexibility to add. It just seems like the willingness isn't there at this point and keep an eye to start next season, if things aren't going as planned in net with Brossoit and Thompson, look for McCrimmon to change his tone.
