Arizona Coyotes Sign Goaltender to PTO

The Arizona Coyotes are giving Christopher Gibson a chance to show them what he can do, as the 29-year-old has signed a professional tryout contract with the team.

Gibson spent this past season with the Charlotte Checkers of the AHL, where he had a 7-5-2 record, 2.80 GAA, and .907 SV% in 14 appearances. Overall, he had a pretty decent campaign, so he has the potential to be a depth option for the Coyotes - if he earns himself a contract, of course.

Heading into the season, the Coyotes currently have Karel Vejmelka as their starting goalie. After that, longtime AHL goalie Jon Gillies appears set to take the backup role, but perhaps Gibson can impress and steal the job from him. It isn't too crazy of an idea.

In 16 career NHL games, Gibson has a 4-5-3 record, 3.33 GAA, and .901 SV%.
