Former Detroit Red Wings Forward Heading Overseas

Carter Rowney is heading overseas, as he has inked a one-year deal with Lowen Frankfurt of the German DEL.

Rowney spent this past season with the Detroit Red Wings, where he was utilized as an extra forward. In 26 games with the Original Six club, he had four goals, two assists, and a minus-4 rating. Overall, it was a fairly quiet season for the 33-year-old, and it was, unfortunately, not enough for him to land another contract in the NHL. As a result, he will be testing his luck in Germany.

In 249 career NHL games between the Pittsburgh Penguins, Anaheim Ducks, and Red Wings, Rowney had 24 goals, 39 assists, and 63 points. With that, he won the Stanley Cup with the Penguins in 2017.
