NHL Rumors: 3 Players Expected to Sign PTO's This Season

NHL training camps are around the corner and there's a number of free agents left unsigned. The flat salary cap has had a serious impact on the amount of money being tossed around this summer and unfortunately there's some talent available, but not enough money to go around. Here's three players who should probably already be signed, but may have to settle for a PTO this season:

Victor Rask

The 29-year-old center split last season between the Minnesota Wild and Seattle Kraken and managed to record 21 points in 47 total games. Rask is capable of playing a complimentary role on a team's third line and is coming off a $24 million contract. The 6-foot-2 center may have to play the wing to catch on with a team for this upcoming season, something at this point he'd likely be happy to do.

Alex Galchenyuk

One-time can't miss prospect, Alex Galchenyuk finds himself in familiar territory, trying to find work to start another NHL campaign. 'Gally' appeared in 60 NHL games last season, recording six goals and 21 points.

The former third overall pick has all the skill in the world and has shown throughout the past few seasons, if given some ice time and some skill to play with, the tools are all within reach. Galchenyuk has spent time with the Montreal Canadiens, Arizona Coyotes (twice), Pittsburgh Penguins, Minnesota Wild, Ottawa Senators, and Toronto Maple Leafs. Where to next?

Tyler Ennis

Another shifty player with serious offensive instincts, Tyler Ennis is looking for work. The 5-foot-9 winger spent last season with the Ottawa Senators, appearing in 57 games and tallying 24 points. He can help a second power-play unit and fill in for injuries when needed. Ennis plays bigger than is size and is surprisingly tough to knock off the puck. He's entering the back nine of his career and is hopeful he can land an invitation to camp and make an impression.
