NHL Rumors: Carolina Hurricanes Still Shopping Defenseman

According to Bruce Garrioch, the Carolina Hurricanes are still trying to trade Ethan Bear.

Bear was given permission by the Hurricanes to talk with other teams when he was a restricted free agent, but the 25-year-old ended up signing a one-year, $2.2 million regardless. Yet, it appears that both parties are still trying to find a new home for the Regina native before the start of the season.

Bear struggled during his first year with the Hurricanes in 2021-22, as he had five goals and nine assists in 58 games. With that, he was healthy scratched for the entirety of Carolina's playoff run, so naturally, he wants an opportunity to play full-time minutes.

It will be intriguing to see where Bear ends up from here, as it seems that a trade could be on the horizon.
