2 Washington Capitals Have Surgery

The Washington Capitals have announced that Carl Hagelin has had arthroscopic surgery to address a chronic hip injury, and he will be out indefinitely. With that, prospect Kody Clark has had surgery on his left quad tendon and will be out for the next six to eight months.

Hagelin's 2021-22 season came to an early end after an eye injury, and now the Capitals will continue to be without him given this recent development. It's hard not to feel bad for the 34-year-old winger, as he was working very hard to return to action for Washington. In 53 games last season, he had three goals to go along with 14 points.

Clark, on the other hand, was the Capitals' 2018 second-round pick and has been aiming to cement himself in an NHL role. This long-term injury certainly does not help him on that front, as he is likely to miss the entire season. In 63 games last season with the Hershey Bears, the 22-year-old winger had eight goals and 19 points.
