Blackhawks & Canadiens Make Trade

The Chicago Blackhawks have traded Nicolas Beaudin to the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for Cam Hillis.

Beaudin is a pretty notable name being moved, as he was Chicago's 2018 first-round selection. However, the 23-year-old defenseman has been developing at a slow rate and is coming off of a down season with the Rockford IceHogs. After having 10 points in nine games for the AHL squad in the 2020-21 season, he had just 16 points in 66 games last year. Perhaps a change of scenery can get him back on track. With the Canadiens, he should receive chances on their NHL roster.

Hillis, on the other hand, played in 24 games for the Laval Rocket last season, where he had five goals and nine points. He started this season in the ECHL with the Trois-Rivieres Lions, where he has two goals in three games. He should provide the Blackhawks with more depth and will likely begin his tenure with the organization in the minors.
