Blackhawks Goalie Placed on IR

The Chicago Blackhawks have placed Petr Mrazek on injured reserve. It is retroactive to Oct. 21, so the earliest that he can return to action is this upcoming Friday.

This is rough news for Mrazek, as the 30-year-old is trying to have a bounce-back season after a disastrous 2021-22 campaign with the Toronto Maple Leafs. Yet, he is instead now recovering from another groin injury - something that he suffered last season, too.

This IR placement isn't all that surprising, though, as the Blackhawks just called up fellow netminder Arvid Soderblom to the NHL roster. The 23-year-old made three appearances with Chicago last season, sporting a 0-2-0 record, .863 SV%, and 5.01 GAA.

Here's to hoping that Mrazek's injury is a short-term one and that the veteran will thrive once healthy again.
