Bruins Rumors: 3 Possible Destinations for Craig Smith

The Boston Bruins will be over the salary cap once Brad Marchand, Charlie McAvoy, and Matt Grzelcyk are removed from LTIR. Therefore, a trade will be coming, and one player who stands out as a prime candidate to be moved is Craig Smith. The Bruins had trade talks centering around him this offseason already, and he already has been healthy scratched this campaign due to the Bruins' rise in forward depth. Let's look at three teams who could consider acquiring him, but especially if a sweetener is added.

Chicago Blackhawks: The Blackhawks will likely consider adding Smith if it means getting another draft pick in the process. Chicago would have control in this move, and we have seen them take on bad contracts multiple times already this offseason (Petr Mrazek & Jason Dickinson). Therefore, adding Smith to the mix isn't out of the question.

Arizona Coyotes: Another team who could consider acquiring Smith is the Coyotes. They have become famous for taking on expensive contracts. This is how they have piled up so many draft picks since last offseason, so Arizona is certainly in the mix.

Nashville Predators: I wouldn't rule out a possible reunion between the Predators and Smith. This is especially true if Smith can find a way to bounce back and show that he can still play third-line minutes. He was a very popular player in their locker room before, and his work ethic is never in question. Thus, he could be a decent addition to them but especially so if he comes with a little something extra.
