NHL Rumors: 3 Possible Destinations for Pierre-Olivier Joseph

Due to their strong depth on the blueline, the Pittsburgh Penguins have informed each team around the league that Pierre-Olivier Joseph is available for trade. Naturally, it makes sense, as they don't want to lose him for nothing through waivers. Let's look at three teams who could consider acquiring him.

St. Louis Blues: I wonder if the St. Louis Blues will take a look at Joseph. Fellow left-handed and young offensive defenseman Scott Perunovich has been ruled out for six months, while Marco Scandella is set to miss time. Therefore, they could definitely use some depth on the left side, and Joseph wouldn't be a bad player to take a chance on.

Montreal Canadiens: The Montreal Canadiens are an intriguing potential destination for Joseph. Although they aren't heading into this season with high expectations, a 0-6 start to the preseason could lead them to make an addition to their roster. Joseph, who is a Laval native, could help strengthen their weak left side. At a minimum, he would be a fit on their bottom pair and second powerplay unit.

Chicago Blackhawks: The Chicago Blackhawks are also starting the year with injuries on the backend, most notably Jake McCabe. With Joseph being a player on the rise, he could be someone who the rebuilding Blackhawks take a look at. He could work well on their second pair given their weak depth, which in turn, could lead to an increase in offense at the NHL level from him.
