NHL Rumors: Sharks to Trade Veteran Center

The San Jose Sharks are currently one of the worst teams in hockey, as they sport a 1-6-0 record to start the 2022-23 season. This is extremely concerning for a team already predicted to be a long shot to make the playoffs, so they already appear to be destined to be sellers at the deadline. As a result, a Nick Bonino trade should surely occur.

Bonino is a pending UFA with two Stanley Cups on his resume, so playoff teams will show interest in the 34-year-old. Although he has yet to record a point in seven games this season for San Jose, he also had 16 goals and 26 points in 80 games last season for them. Therefore, he should be able to bounce back this campaign and fit well in a contender's bottom six.

Bonino's solid defensive play mixed with his occasional offense should allow him to find a new home before the season is over. This is especially true if the Sharks retain some of his $2,050,000 cap hit.
