NHL Rumors: Devils Forward Becoming Trade Candidate

The New Jersey Devils are off to a solid 3-2-0 start, which is encouraging to see. However, if they fall back down to Earth as the year progresses and fall out of the playoff hunt, they have several pending UFAs who they will trade at the deadline. One very interesting player to keep an eye on in this situation is Miles Wood.

Wood was limited to just three games last season, but he is now healthy and looking to have a big year in 2022-23. After all, he has the opportunity to hit the open market during the summer and a strong season will result in him landing a sweet deal. The 6-foot-2 winger offers a nice mixture of speed, physicality, and scoring when at his best, so the Devils could land a sweet return if he can find his old form from here.

In 2020-21, Wood scored 17 goals and recorded 25 points in 55 games. Playoff teams would love to get that production from their third line, so expect a big market to form for Wood if the Devils are forced to be sellers at the deadline.
