Toronto Maple Leafs Provide Updates on 2 Defensemen

Last week, both Carl Dahlstrom and Jordie Benn left the Toronto Maple Leafs' preseason tilt against the Montreal Canadiens early due to injury. Updates have now been provided on them from the team. Dahlstrom will be out for six months because his shoulder injury requires surgery. Benn, on the other hand, will be out for three weeks with a groin injury.

With the Maple Leafs already dealing with injury trouble, losing two depth defensemen in Dahlstrom and Benn is not ideal. Dahlstrom will be out until at least April, so he's gone for almost the whole season. Although Benn is out for far less time, not having him as an option for the start of the year is still rough.

We will need to wait and see if these injuries result in the Maple Leafs adding a defenseman before the start of the season. At this juncture, it would probably be the wise thing to do.
