Veteran Forward Signs Overseas

Earlier this month, Cody Eakin was released from his PTO with the Calgary Flames. Now, the veteran forward is heading overseas as a result of it, as he has signed a one-year deal with the SCL Tigers of the National League.

Eakin spent this past season with the Buffalo Sabres, where he had four goals to go along with eight assists in 69 games. Although he did not make too much of an impact offensively, his solid defensive play made it seem possible that he would find another home in the NHL this campaign. Yet, that has not occurred, and he will be playing in Switzerland this year because of it.

Eakin will likely try to get back into the NHL next season, but given his age, this trip overseas could mark the end of his North American career. In 701 career games, he has 110 goals, 146 assists, and 256 points.
