Video: Matthew Tkachuk Scores First with Florida Panthers

During the final minute of Thursday's game against the New York Islanders, Matthew Tkachuk scored his first goal with the Florida Panthers by burying an important empty-netter. This helped secure a 3-1 win for the Panthers.

Although it wasn't the most beautiful of first goals, it was a crucial one, as it led the Panthers to get their first two points of the season. Naturally, Panther fans will have their eyes glued to Tkachuk this season, as he was their huge offseason addition this year. Furthermore, it cost them an elite talent in Jonathan Huberdeau, one of their best defensemen in MacKenzie Weegar, prospect Cole Schwindt, AND a first-rounder. Tkachuk has big shoes (or rather, skates?) to fill given all that the Panthers gave up for him.

Tkachuk is coming off of a season that saw him score 42 goals and record 104 points in 82 games. After a strong first game as a Panther, let's see if he can replicate his career year this time around.
