Wild Waive Defenseman

The Minnesota Wild have placed Dakota Mermis on waivers.

Mermis had remained on Minnesota's roster because he was on the injured reserve list. Yet, now that he is ready to return, the Wild have placed him on waivers in order for him to be sent down to the AHL. Assuming he clears, he will be joining the Iowa Wild, where he should be a key part of their blueline.

Mermis played in two games for the Wild last season, where he had no points and a plus-2 rating. With Iowa, he was pretty effective offensively, as he had a solid 24 points in 59 games. He will be aiming to replicate that kind of production this season for them if he clears waivers. Time will tell if another club decides to take a shot on him from here.
