Blue Jackets Sign Steal Of A Prospect From 2022 Draft

The Columbus Blue Jackets have inked their 2022 third round pick Jordan Dumais to a three-year, entry-level deal. It appears as though the team got themselves a steal as he leads the CHL in scoring this season as an 18-year-old.

It is a real wonder why Dumais went at the end of the third round considering he lit up the QMJHL with the Halifax Mooseheads last season scoring 39 goals and 109 points in 68 games in his draft year. Seeing as he's 5-foot-9, it appears as though many general managers in the league think size is a big factor in determining if a player will be impactful in the NHL.

Columbus jumped all over Dumais with their fourth selection in the draft and their first pick after they drafted Luca Del Bel Belluz at number 44. Seeing as Dumais is lighting up junior once again, he should be on the fast track to the NHL if he can transfer his game to the pro level next season. The Blue Jackets really had themselves a great draft this past offseason.
