Calgary Flames Defenseman Sent Down to AHL

The Calgary Flames have sent Dennis Gilbert down to the American Hockey League (AHL).

Gilbert has bounced around from the NHL and AHL all season, and now that trend is continuing. In seven games this season with the Flames, the 6-foot-2 defenseman has one assist, 18 hits, and a minus-1 rating. Overall, he has worked fairly well as a depth d-man, and that will likely lead to a future call-up to the Flames when injuries inevitably occur as the season rolls on.

Gilbert's demotion is likely due to fellow defenseman Michael Stone returning to the lineup. We will have to wait and see how Gilbert performs with the Calgary Wrangles from here.
