Edmonton Oilers Call Up Top Prospect

The Edmonton Oilers have called up Philip Broberg to their NHL roster. In a corresponding move, Markus Niemelainen has been sent down the Bakersfield Condors.

Naturally, all eyes will be on Broberg once he makes his season debut for the Oilers. The 2019 eighth-overall pick is expected to blossom into a big part of the Oilers' defensive group as he continues to develop, and now this is a good chance for him to show them that he is ready for a full-time NHL role.

In seven games this season with the Condors, Broberg has two goals and four points.

Niemelainen, on the other hand, has played in 15 games for the Oilers. During them, he hasn't made an impact offensively, as he has zero points. However, from a physicality standpoint, he has been excellent, as he has 45 hits. Still, it was not enough for him to maintain his spot on the NHL roster, and now he's heading back to the Condors because of it.
