Jets & Blue Jackets Make Great Trade Partners

The Winnipeg Jets are dealing with a number of injuries to NHL regulars at forward which has caused some players to be forced into larger roles. They haven't necessarily handled the larger workload great as the Jets' depth forwards haven't been able to produce outside of Adam Lowry.

With Nikolaj Ehlers, Mason Appleton, and Morgan Barron out for a while due to injury, the Jets should be looking to add someone up front to bolster their lineup now and give them that extra piece for a hopeful playoff run. The Columbus Blue Jackets are the perfect team to trade with at this time.

There may only be one other team in need of defencemen as bad as the Blue Jackets, and that's the Toronto Maple Leafs. But the Blue Jackets are in the market of selling higher valued forwards. This means players like Gustav Nyquist and Jack Roslovic are likely on the move. Frank Seravalli listed Roslovic 11th on his trade board for November. With one year remaining on his deal after this one, the Jets could surely use his services in the top-nine.

The Blue Jackets are in need of defencemen, not only for this season, but they could use someone who's under contract past this season. That's an area where the Jets must address since they have Ville Heinola and Dylan Samberg on the rise and pushing for NHL jobs. They are both talented enough to play in the NHL at this point. But the Jets will soon have to decide if they want to keep both and trade someone else or deal one of them away. Every member of the Jets' top eight defencemen are either signed through next season or are RFAs at the end of this season. The Blue Jackets would benefit from acquiring any one of them.
