New York Islanders Forward Placed On Waivers

The New York Islanders have placed Nikita Soshnikov on waivers.

Soshnikov returned to North America this season after spending the last three years bouncing around the KHL. Since joining the Islanders, the 29-year-old winger has played in just three games, where he has zero points and a minus-2 rating. Overall, it's been hard for him to earn a spot in their lineup, and now he is hitting the waiver wire because of it.

When noting that Soshnikov only carries a $750,000 cap hit, it certainly is possible that another club could claim him if they are dealing with injury trouble and/or believe he can become an impactful NHL player. Keep in mind, he did record 15 points in 22 games with Omsk Avangard, so maybe he has the potential to produce offense.
