NHL Rumors: Bruins & Blackhawks Becoming Possible Trade Partners

Derek Forbort will soon be returning for the Boston Bruins. Once he is removed from long-term injured reserve (LTIR), the Bruins will need to trade at least one player to become cap compliant. Mike Reilly is the biggest trade candidate because of not only this but also him making it known that he wants to be moved. This is because of the 29-year-old's recent demotion to the AHL.

With the Bruins' backs up against the wall, they will need to add a sweetener in any move centering around Reilly. As a result, the Chicago Blackhawks seem like a legitimate landing spot.

The Blackhawks are in a full-on rebuild and should be aiming to take advantage of situations like these. Not only would they be getting a solid bottom-pairing defenseman in Reilly but also very likely either a decent prospect or draft pick.

Nevertheless, we will have to wait and see if the Blackhawks and Bruins end up striking a deal centering around Reilly from here.
