NHL Rumors: Maple Leafs Interested In Canucks' Defenceman

The Toronto Maple Leafs have been doing just fine since Jake Muzzin was injured, but by the way their defence looks, they may choose to add someone this season to replace what he brings to the lineup. Bruce Garrioch believes the team has been in contact with the Vancouver Canucks regarding Tyler Myers.

Though nothing may come of this considering Myers has a 10-team no-trade list, the Maple Leafs appear to be thinking about the possibility of adding someone with size and physicality for longer than just the remainder of the season.

The style of play Myers brings every night is tough to play against. That's what the Maple Leafs are trying to become in the playoffs so they can finally get over the hump. The defenceman is signed for one more season at $6 million AAV. The Canucks will have to retain some of that cap hit if they do make a trade with the Maple Leafs and Toronto won't be on the hook for too long if they don't like what Myers brings to the table once he's there.

This is all speculation as it is still early in the season, but the Maple Leafs are going to be connected to a lot of defencemen this season and likely land one of them before the trade deadline.
