NHL Rumors: Washington Capitals to Shop Forward

The Washington Capitals are in deep trouble, as they sport a 7-10-3 record and are quickly falling out of the playoffs. Unless they are able to turn things around immediately, they will have no choice but to be sellers at the deadline. One player to pay attention to in this scenario is pending UFA Lars Eller.

Eller was in the rumor mill during this offseason, but the Capitals elected to hold on to him. This is likely because the Capitals were already dealing with an array of injuries with their forwards. However, if the Capitals have nothing to play near the deadline, Eller will likely be on the move.

Eller could be a good addition to a playoff team's bottom six. His solid defensive play would make him work well on the penalty kill, while his decent secondary scoring would be welcomed, too. In 20 games this season, Eller has three goals and seven points.
