Senators & Bruins Make Perfect Trade Partners

With Nikita Zaitsev being waived by the Ottawa Senators, they are now in even more need of defensive help. Pierre Dorian has been working the phones, but a team that could be a great match is the Boston Bruins. They have been winning regardless of who is in the lineup and now that their defence is healthy, they would be wise to trade someone.

Mike Reilly is the ideal candidate for the Bruins here as he has asked for a trade after being waived for the second time this season. The previous team he played for was actually the Senators where he recorded one goal and 31 points in 70 games. He was productive and is an underrated puck-mover. His role has decreased with the Bruins and he has fallen down the depth chart.

If the Senators are keeping all lines of communication open, they must look to deal with contenders and struggling teams. With the Bruins close to the cap, they could get Reilly for next to nothing in order for the team to just move on from him. Since Reilly was productive in the past in his time with the Senators, there's no reason to think he won't find that success once again with a fresh start.

This sort of trade could work for both sides if Reilly is the type of defenceman the Senators are looking to add. The Bruins have no need for him anymore with a full lineup of strong talent, so they may even be willing to pay to move him.
