Winnipeg Jets Defenseman Set to Make Season Debut

The Winnipeg Jets will be playing their 17th game of the 2022-23 season on Monday against the Carolina Hurricanes. Although they are over a month into the season, top prospect Ville Heinola is set to make his season debut for the NHL squad.

Heinola did not make the team out of camp, and it was understandably surprising to some fans. This is because the 2019 first-round pick seemed destined to compete for a full-time NHL spot. Yet, after recording an impressive seven assists in 11 games for the Manitoba Moose this campaign, he is now getting his shot with the NHL squad.

Heinola has made appearances at the NHL level over each of the last three seasons, where he has a goal and 10 points in 25 games. Overall, when called upon, he has produced well offensively. Let's see if this trend continues in 2022-23 from here.
