Arizona Coyotes' Top Trade Candidate This Season

There is no doubt the Arizona Coyotes still have a few years before they are ready to come out of a rebuild and have a few solid trade candidates to help get them closer to their goal. Among the most likely players to be traded are Nick Ritchie and Shayne Gostisbehere, but the top trade candidate on the Coyotes is Jakob Chychrun.

There has been a lot of interest for the defenceman around the league for a while and now that he's back from injury and producing at a very nice pace, his value remains high. Chychrun has three goals and nine points in 10 games since returning from injury and is playing on the top pair with Gostisbehere.

When healthy, Chychrun is one of the most underpaid players in the NHL and has a very affordable cap hit to fit in any Stanley Cup contender's lineup. He has a cap hit of just $4.6 million AAV for two more seasons and the Coyotes would be wise to move him before his contract turns into a modified no-trade clause and their options are reduced.

The last time Chychrun was really healthy for a season was in 2020-21 where he scored 18 goals and 41 points in the shortened 56-game season. He is showing how effective he can be as a number one defenceman on the Coyotes this season and would be a great number two or three defender on a competitor.
