Calgary Flames' Top Trade Candidate This Season

The Calgary Flames have been struggling to hold a playoff spot this season as they have taken a step back from their dominant 2021-22 season. That's understandable considering they lost their top two point-getters and had to make some big changes by bringing in Jonathan Huberdeau, Nazem Kadri, and MacKenzie Weegar.

The team is still adjusting to the big changes and may never be the same dominant team they were last season with Johnny Gaudreau and Matthew Tkachuk. But by no means are they a bad team. Having said that, they have many good defencemen and not enough room in their lineup to play them all. So they can afford to trade one to upgrade up front.

The Flames' top trade candidate is Oliver Kylington. Though he is away from the team, the expectation is that he'll return to the team at some point. When that happens, there will really be a logjam. Kylington had a breakout season last season and had some solid trade value considering he's only 25, has a cap hit of $2.5 million, and is under contract through next season.

After nine goals and 31 points in 73 games scored by Kylington while logging just over 18 minutes a game last season, teams will definitely be interested in adding him, whether it be a contender or rebuilding team.
