NHL Rumors: Chicago Blackhawks Defenseman Garnering Interest

Although the Chicago Blackhawks started off the 2022-23 season in a solid fashion, things have quickly and expectedly changed on that front. The rebuilding Blackhawks have won just one out of their 10 games. As a result of all of this, the Blackhawks prepared to be major sellers at the deadline. Although Patrick Kane, Jonathan Toews, and Max Domi will dominate the rumor mill until then, another trade candidate is Jake McCabe.

McCabe has had a very strong season in 2022-23. The defensive defenseman currently has a solid eight points and a plus-4 rating in 21 games thus far. With that, he has made quite an impact physically, as his 45 hits show effectively. Overall, he is exactly the kind of top-four defenseman playoff teams are always looking for, so don't be surprised to see Chicago take advantage of his heightened value.

McCabe carries a $4 million cap hit until the end of the 2024-25 season, so he would be more than a rental for another team. His seven-team no-trade list would be easy for Chicago to work around, too, so let's see what happens with him from here.
