NHL Rumors: Edmonton Oilers Making Trade Offers

The Edmonton Oilers are working the phones trying to find the right situation for struggling forward Jesse Puljujarvi. After his recent public comments regarding his confidence, his production and the situation in Edmonton, management has decided it's finally time to do right by the player and give him a change of scenery.

Puljujarvi has appeared in 29 games this season and has only one goal and six points, despite playing top-six minutes for most of the season. Apparently he gets very nervous and stressed when the coach puts him with Connor McDavid because he knows he's supposed to be producing at a high level and puts a ton of pressure on himself.

Puljujarvi is still only 24 years old and he's making $3 million against the cap, and becomes a restricted free agent at season's end. There's going to be a ton of interest in his potential as at 6-foot-4 and a excellent skater, the potential is there, it just needs to be the right situation.

Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman recently commented on what as going on in Edmonton on 32 Thoughts on Saturday night, and had this to say about Puljujarvi's situation:

I do think that is going to happen. What I can’t tell you is, what the timeline is going to be. Edmonton is still banged up at forward and the Oilers don’t have a salary cap issue until Evander Kane is back and returns sometime in the next few months. So I don’t think this is necessarily going to happen quickly or anything like that. But I do think the Oilers and the player are going to try and find a solution.
