NHL Rumors: What The Oilers Are Looking For In A Puljujarvi Trade

Jesse Puljujarvi has been spending some time in the top-six alongside Connor McDavid, but Puljujarvi is not a top-six forward. Over the past full season his offensive production has been minimal no matter where he plays or who he plays with.

David Pagnotta reported that the Oilers would like to trade Puljujarvi for another bottom-six forward. The Oilers' winger should be playing on the third line at best, but Evander Kane and some other forwards have been injured. Since it is almost inevitable that Edmonton is going to trade Puljujarvi, they are likely also showcasing him on the top line to try to get any sort of value out of him.

Puljujarvi may just need a change in scenery and be put in a situation where the pressure of playing with two of the best players in the world isn't hanging on his every shift. It doesn't help the Oilers much seeing as he's not producing for them and seemingly said he doesn't fit in on Edmonton.

The Oilers are searching for anyone who can produce in the bottom-six to help out the league's leading scorers, hopefully at a cheaper price. It's not enough to just forecheck and hit. There are a lot of options around the league that the Oilers would accept a one-for-one trade.
