3 New Jersey Devils 2023 Trade Targets

The New Jersey Devils have surprised many this season with their success and now management is tasked with becoming a buyer ahead of the 2023 trade deadline. General manager Tom Fitzgerald has his work cut out for him as the team will try to add a top-six winger to their group. Here's a few trade targets for the Devils ahead of the March 3 deadline:

James van Riemsdyk

Philadelphia Flyers forward James van Riemsdyk is likely on the move this season as the Flyers are in tank mode and expected to sell on all their pending free agents. JVR is from Jersey and would love nothing more but to play meaningful hockey games down the stretch in front of family and friends. He can still put up points in bunches and the Flyers are expected to retain 50% of his salary, making him even more enticing for the Devils.

Brock Boeser

The Devils tried to land Matthew Tkachuk from the Calgary Flames at last summer's draft and there was also talks they had interest in Vancouver Canucks forward Brock Boeser. All that's happened since is the relationship between Boeser and the Canucks has crumbled, and now his agent is working on a trade out of Vancouver. The Devils make a ton of sense and he would immediately upgrade their top six.

Timo Meier

After swinging and missing on Tkachuk, the Devils could make another swing for the fences by adding Sharks power forward Timo Meier. He may not be as nasty as Tkachuk, but Meier has all the tools and can easily push a team over the hump. At 26, he's still in the prime of his career and is someone team's will be willing to make significant offers for. The Devils would be wise to get involved.
