3 Potential Trade Destinations for Flyers' James van Riemsdyk

The Philadelphia Flyers find themselves on the outside looking in at the Stanley Cup Playoff picture. General manager (GM) Chuck Fletcher has been under the microscope for some of the recent decisions he's made regarding the future of the franchise. There's going to be plenty more decisions coming as we creep closer to the March 3 trade deadline, including where exactly James van Riemsdyk (JVR) will end up getting traded to as the veteran winger has become a prime trade candidate.

Toronto Maple Leafs

The Maple Leafs need a second line left winger and could benefit from a reunion with JVR. He showed great chemistry with Mitch Marner in the past and the two have remained close friends off the ice. Those two having John Tavares down the middle instead of, no offence, Tyler Bozak, could brew something even more special for the Leafs Stanley Cup run and be fun to watch for Leafs Nation.

Edmonton Oilers

The Oilers will be getting Evander Kane back at some point but could use another scoring winger for their top six. Jesse Puljujarvi hasn't panned out as planned and is likely getting moved for some help for the Oilers bottom six. Insert JVR up front and his secondary scoring input could help push the Oilers through. The veteran winger has recorded 15 points in 17 games in 2022-23, and could really flourish playing alongside Connor McDavid or Leon Draisaitl. Speaking of trades, another Flyer who could help the Oilers...veteran defenseman Justin Braun.

New Jersey Devils

The Devils will be a fun team to watch around the trade deadline as GM Tom Fitzgerald is expected to be aggressive. New Jersey could use another winger and in this case from the player's perspective,  Jersey is JVR's home and the fit couldn't be more perfect.
