3 Potential Trade Destinations for Senators Cam Talbot

The Ottawa Senators are on the outside looking in this season to the Stanley Cup Playoff picture. The Sens already sit nine points out of a wildcard spot and have a number of teams they need to leap frog. Expect some deals, including pending free agent goaltender Cam Talbot who's name has surfaced on the trade market recently. Here's three potential destinations:

New Jersey Devils

The Devils are looking for some goaltending depth as they gear up for the postseason. New Jersey is a threat this season and could do some serious damage. Adding Talbot would alleviate some of the pressure on Vitek Vanecek and push MacKenzie Blackwood to perform.

Edmonton Oilers

There's been a crazy rumor out there regarding a swap of Talbot for Jack Campbell out in Edmonton, but so far it doesn't appear to have any legs. The Oilers would save some money on the deal and lose the rest of the commitment to the struggling Campbell. Meanwhile Ottawa would acquire a goaltender with some term which they are very familiar with. Keep an eye on these two teams as regardless, both will be busy leading up to March 3.

LA Kings

The Kings sent down Cal Petersen earlier this season as their projected starter couldn't stop a beach ball. He's performed well since being sent to the AHL, but the Kings don't appear to be chomping at the bit to recall him. Expect to see the Kings add some depth and Talbot could make a ton of sense for Kings GM Rob Blake. He's a rental and at $3 million is cheap enough to be able to fit into the picture down the stretch.
