5 Teams Expected to Make Multiple Trades Before 2023 Deadline

The 2023 NHL trade deadline is March 3 and get ready for a flurry of moves between now and then. With the calendar flipping to 2023 and many teams realizing their either in or out of the race, the trade market should be heating up in the next week or so. Let's dive into five teams who are expected to be busy leading up to the deadline:

Toronto Maple Leafs

Kyle Dubas is going for it this season as he's going to do everything in his power to upgrade his hockey team and secure himself a contract extension. Toronto doesn't have a ton of cap space to work with, however their newfound depth on defense can make the focus much easier on adding a couple of forwards.

Ottawa Senators

The Senators are surprisingly on the outside looking in at the moment and if the struggles continue and they are going to miss the Stanley Cup Playoffs, expect to see general manager Pierre Dorion retool. There's been rumblings about Alex DeBrincat being in play, but if they don't move their sniper, look for the Sens to sell on Austin Watson, Travis Hamonic, Nick Holden and Derick Brassard.

Vancouver Canucks

We're staying in Canada as the Vancouver Canucks are also expected to be busy. The team is a mess, the dressing room is apparently getting divided and their head coach is a lame duck. The Canucks are likely going to pull the trigger long before March 3 and could move the likes of Brock Boeser, J.T Miller, Bo Horvat, Tyler Myers and Conor Garland.

Seattle Kraken

The Kraken are far ahead of schedule in their second season and are expected to add multiple players before the trade deadline. The team is loaded with draft picks and aren't afraid to use them as Ron Francis looks to upgrade the roster. The Seattle market is going crazy for their team and good on the Kraken for becoming relevant so early in franchise history.

Chicago Blackhawks

The Blackhawks are an interesting team to watch as they have two of the biggest names on the trade market in Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews. Both have made it clear they'd rather not be a part of a full rebuild and management has made it clear they are trying to tank for Connor Bedard. The likes of Max Domi, Andreas Athanasiou, Jake McCabe and Seth Jones could all be moved before March 3.
