Blackhawks Patrick Kane Addresses Ongoing Trade Rumors

Chicago Blackhawks forward Patrick Kane has seen his name splashed all over trade rumors since before training camp began in September. The Blackhawks legend understands why as he's a pending free agent who the Blackhawks can move before the trade deadline to help continue their rebuild.

While Kane hasn't spoken much about what is exactly going on, as he holds a no-movement clause and will control his own destiny, he did speak to Charlie Roumeliotis of NBC Sports Chicago and had this to say on the latest:

It's a different year, obviously, going into the last year of your contract and different variables about what's going to happen or where you're going to be the rest of your career, different things like that. You think about that stuff, especially when it gets into January here and got a couple months to the trade deadline, so we'll see how it all shakes out. Just to kind of hear from where each side is at. I think whether it's about my play now or just about the team, about things that I see with the team that could maybe help, and, obviously, about maybe what's coming up. I don't think we've got to that point yet, but I'm sure we both know it's right around the corner here.

Kane admitted he's discussed deals with his agent weekly and isn't shying away from the fact this has been top of mind at times. Right now however, he's dealing with a lower-body injury which has landed him on the IR.

Once Kane gets back healthy for the Blackhawks, look for him to meet with GM Kyle Davidson and discuss a plan as we move closer to the trade deadline March 3.
