Maple Leafs Rumors: Top Trade Targets Include Interesting Trio

According to Jonas Seigel of The Athletic, he feels the Toronto Maple Leafs top trade targets should include a number of interesting candidates. Not only were there some wingers in the mix, Seigel thinks the Leafs' best fits are actually two centers who are pending free agents.

In his recent piece, Seigel names the likes of Bo Horvat, Ryan O'Reilly and Travis Konecny as Toronto's top trade targets and sees Horvat as the perfect fit for the Maple Leafs. Konecny is an interesting add as he is always in the thick of the scrums when Philly and Toronto matchup.

While Toronto is certainly an option for all three of these top targets, there's other teams who may be getting in the way with better trade offers to work with. For Horvat, the Boston Bruins and Colorado Avalanche remain heavily interested and will be in the mix all the way until the end. Konecny has been linked to the Carolina Hurricanes, Washington Capitals and Seattle Kraken. And O'Reilly has been on watch by the Avalanche, Capitals and Edmonton Oilers.

Toronto is going to be busy ahead of the March 3 trade deadline as general manager Kyle Dubas is managing for a job next season. If the Leafs don't get out of the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, expect to see senior management go a different direction next season.
